Hello!

While idly wondering on what models id like I thought of the following:'
Is it possible to build these models:
A McLaren MP4/5 from a MP4/5B ?
A Ferrari F2002 from a F2001 ?
A Ferrari F310 from a F310B ?

Is it ?

Hi,

I'd say the mp4/5 and F2002 can be done.
I've resently done a F2001 -> F2002 conversion in the easiest way, just the Tamiya kit with a set of extra decals for the 2002 version (early season that is).
A long time ago I did a mp4/5 for a mp4/4 (before Tamiya released the mp4/5b).
Should not be to hard to do from a mp4/5b.
My current mp4/5 is from a transkit, you could look for that one aswell (don't wkon if they still make it and don't know the manufactorer anymore either).
The F310b->F310 will be realy hard if not olmost impossible if your not realy wel skilled.
Chaccis to start with is completely diffirent......

Thanks for the answer roly.
It sounds encouraging.
But I do believe that the first races of the 2002 season were raced in a F2001.
Id like to make the "real" F2002 model :)

A couple "easy" ones I've come across

* Braun Tyrrell into 1991 version
* Lotus 99t into 98t

Of the F2002 is a kit of S27 I think.
Would be quit difficult to make it from the F2001 from Tamiya.

As a side note:
The Braun version is the 1991 one.
But you could make the 1992 version without many problems.

Hi,

Eventhough I wrote that the F310b -> F310 conversion would be hard to do.
See what HLJ will have soon, a decalsheet to do just that what you thought about.

I'd say the decal sheet might be for the Maisto car... or simply because they sell the decals of a car they have in stock... :)
The Maisto is a nice car. Yes, F310B--->F310 is hard, but ----->F310--->F310B is even harder, I did it and result was rather pesky!!
Back to Maisto car, it's reasonably good. Just get rid of those 1/18th sized tyres and you'll be OK. Rims? well, you'd have to work on them: different diameter inside and outside!!!
That said, with the S27 decal sheet, a nice project...

Not that hard: mostly chopping, little to add. You can live with some Milliput and plastic

Forget it, unless you feel brave enough to do a so curved engine cover. There are lots of cheap -I mean 3$- cable powered cars that reproduce the F2002 bodywork. Easy to work with. see picture. This + F2001, why not?

Forget it. see above... The Maistos sell at reasonable prices on Ebay...

Or get the Finishers (or how ever yuo spel it) kit.
This basicly is a transkit for the Tamiya F310b as it is a complete kit but with half the Tamiya kit included. It has a resin body and bottum and some other small parts and a decalsheet to ad with the original decals of the F310b.
Not that good, but good enough for me (as always).

I am also a follower of the postulates "Gudinov", as Roly! :)
So I always search in the cheap toy shops and find things like these:
One is an almost perfect F2002. The other one, the one with lots of accessories, wants to be a decent F2003... it lacks the recessed lower section, but it can be fixed... good to do a sauber '04! :)
