1/24 scale is a curious decision….so much aftermarket stuff for this car in 1/20 already

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
I never liked the Revell kits but I most likely will have to have one of these if only to show size difference between a Porsche 962 in 24th scale.
I would have preferred their efforts go towards another 12th scale but that's just me!

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
My concern is how much, if any, re-engineering will take place to downsize the kit. The 12th scale kit uses a number of small screws which I think would be tiny at 24th scale.

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
For example, look at the mounting points for the wheel hub on these three kits
and
Now admittedly the 24th scale FW19 is not a great kit, but the Lotus' mounting points are smaller. Now half scale the McLaren suspension arm and its mounting point will be tiny. Which even with more modern moulding techniques is going to be difficult, assuming its in plastic...
I'm just so not sure about how Meng is going to do it..

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
Good news!
I have kept a Gunze 1/24 motorized MP4/4 for a long time for modification. Now I can have a full detailed kit! The Gunze kit has all the tobacco decals that I can use on the detailed kit.
Hasegawa had done a whole series of 1990's F1 cars with pretty good results. The suspension mounting points are half circles, not full ones.
I think the Meng kit will likely be around 70 US$.

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
The engine detail on this kit looks as good as the Rosso 1/24th Ferrari 643. I have the old Studio 27 1/24th resin kit of this MP4/4 along with the Hachette 1/24th diecast, which is better than the Studio 27 kit and cost 1/3rd the amount. This Meng kit makes them both look simple as they were curbside.

Re: Meng McLaren MP4/4 in 1/24th scale
They do aircraft and military kits in much smaller scales and should be able to tackle this in 1/24th without issue.
