Italeri 1/6 Big Scale Bikes

Post by capri-schorsch »

Hello, new day new question.

Is someone here familiar with the Italeri 1/6 scale bike series?
Anyone build such a big kit so far or can tell me something about the quality of these kits?

There are some bikes from VR46 out there and also a nice YZR Yamaha.

I would be interested in your meaning about these kits.
And maybe someone is willing to sell one or more from his stash?

Regards Christian

Here are some of the bikes they made. There are some more available.

Your coming late Christian, sold my Rossi NSR 500 a couple of months ago but i can tell you: Don`t expect too much terms of details.
I build the NSR many years ago and there are not many parts included, less then a Tamiya 1:12, also there is no decal sheet, it is a sticker sheet! Bodyparts are pre coloured but need repainting.
Overall these are nice base kits but need detailing, then you can get a very nice model.
I have some pics from what`s inside, can post them later to give you an idea what`s inside. ;)

Thanks for the replay.
Yes I knew that these kits are not detailed as a Tamiya one. But I like the size of them. It's just the same as the big car kits from Entex/Eidai Grip.
They are huge but when you got one in your hands it's a bit of disappointed. But I really want to build these bikes and it's not a problem when there is no clutch with 50 parts included. With a decent color on it and some custom decals they will be good enough for my cabinet.
I wish read about the stickers but just I said before that's ok. Never was a big Rossi fan so I will try to make some other liverys.
Just bought two Die-Cast bikes in 1/6 for real small money.
A Honda rc211v and a Yamaha M1 04 version. Will try to detail these bikes with some printed parts and spent them a new look.

Can I ask you what you received for your NSR kit?

Regards Christian

Yes they can be turned into something nice when printing some detail parts and doing real decals for it instead of the stickers.
Do you want to turn the Yamaha into the 50th anniversary livery? Be award that the 05 Yamaha was different to the 04 version! Some major changings had to be done to create a 05 version. ;)

I agree with the others. I have the RC211v, opened it up and was very disappointed with the level of detail, I put it right back in the box. I think it could be made into something nice with a lot of work, but I don't have the time.

Italeri with their 1/9 and 1/6 bike kits are just not that good IMO, they are usually out of proportion when it comes to shape, A friend of mine built some and they just look weirdly wrong in lots of areas.
