Minardi M188 (Tameo 1/43)
Got this nice little Minardi kit finished few months ago but for some weird reason I wouldn't feel right to take pictures without a diorama to display it with.
Eventually I wasted 4 months to come up with the display diorama which you can see in the photos, nothing to scream about considering the time spent on it on and off. It was a tedious process which I still don't know how I got into.
Anyway, this is my 4th 1/43 kit, Minardi M188 which raced in Monaco No. 24 raced by Luis Perez Sala.
One little mistake in the kit is the M@r!b*r* decal, it is not the typical chevron with the driver's name in the red area, but it was longer:
Luckily I had a spare tobacco decal sheet with different shapes and sizes which more or less fit the one on this Minardi.
Painted with rattle can, I had the black-blue RAL5004 specially made by a local hardware store. Decals were OK, but very hard to get the smallest ones to stay on the bodywork. Hope you enjoy this one, I will be back to bigger scales very soon.

Very nice.
Display is a lovely touch as well.
Have you played around with natural light photos? Can sometimes add further to the realism.

Great build and nice workaround on the tobacco decal - unlike Tameo to make a mistake like that. I too have had issues with smaller decals in kits of this era not sticking to the body.

Nice build! But no Tameo didn’t get it wrong. The bigger decal was indeed used earlier in the season more later

Hi James
Yes, i went and looked as well.
Kit is sold as the monaco gp version, but the livery (and reference photos in the instructions) look to be from Brazil.

Since the model version by Tameo shows "Monaco GP", the decal included in the kit was not correct. And where the smaller M@r!b*r* decal was present, the Cimarron sponsor was replaced by Lois instead, like Brazil and Imola. Of course, that's if you want to represent a Minardi from that specific race, if not the decals in the kit are fine and surely can be used as they are. Unless you have other pictures which shows otherwise, in which case I am dying to see

How can anyone not like a Minardi?
As others have said, nice work and the diorama looks good to me
Cheers,
Paul

Yes guys you´re both right! I talked from memory, thinking the car was a more generical GP version. If it´s labeled as MOnaco, then yes it´s wring!
Tameo usually took their references at Imola. They probably rushed the Monaco updates and forgot to replace the Marlins
In fact when I made my 1/20 transkit I devoted a little more time than today and, hopefuly, it was accurate!
I made different sheets, sure!
Er BTW the transkits are still available ("your add here" )
