Hi Folks,
i`m looking for the right TS colour for Tamiya`s MP 4/6, a friend of mine would like to repaint his model and is looking for the correct colour.
Does anyone have the right TS colour on his hand?
Thank`s in advance!

Well....
I strugggle to believe you have not witnessed some of the discussions about this one since... 20 years ago? or have you? if so you´ll know the jury is out yet.
TS36 was the Tamiya default option. It has the hue, it´s fluo!!! BUUUUT..... the problem is that it´s a clear paint, so saturation builds up with every coat, plus it tends to darken to crimson.
There seems to be also a TS12, but not sure how it would work...

Re: TS code for Mclaren
Hi
There is no proper TS spray for Mac 'rocket red' - but the RAL code is RAL3024.
Various model paints (Zero, Finisher etc) I don't find fluo enough so I am using a car paint which is a PITA as it uses hardener - but at least it can be thinned with something like Gunze thinner.
It is also pricey...

Re: TS code for Mclaren
There are better options than TS36, from my own experience it is tricky to get the correct amount of TS36 on the model and evenly as it's transparent over the white paint and it certainly does darken over time, it seems to lose its Fluo look.
I had switched to Mr.Color 171 Fluo Red, easier to get a good result and so far it seems to be holding up better that TS36.
Automotive paint RAL 3024 Fluo Red is another option.
I have tried Tamiya's New LP Paints which are very nice but I don't see that they have a Fluo red in that range, Google search pulls up LP-50, but that is not Fluo Red....

Re: TS code for Mclaren
I built the kit when it first came put and went to a motorcycle dealer and bought a touch-up spray for the M@r!b*r* sponsored bikes of the time.
It was a perfect match for the colour on the Tamiya decals.

Well i was not offline the last years James, still know Zero paints which i am using too, that`s why i never followed the TS series, but my friend needs to go rattle can as he has not the option to use an airbrush
What to do with the Suzuki?
RAL 3024 should be available in rattle cans, totaly forgot about that!
Thank`s for your input guys, your allways a helping hand!

As a small bonus, TS36 cracks over time. Every Mclaren I have painted with that has cracks in the red. Food for thought.

Agree with Dede. MrColor is a very good option.

"I had switched to Mr.Color 171 Fluo Red, easier to get a good result and so far it seems to be holding up better that TS36." This right here. Better color fidelity, better consistency, and better aging. I will never use TS36 again. And Mr. Color is a semi gloss, unlike most dayglo paints which are flat. Every negative comment here about TS36 is spot on. I will even add that I've had brand new cans of TS36 that came out looking more like TS49 bright red.
