Its also now well established that the right to royalties on a design expires after 25 years. Pre 1998 should be open season. I would guess that any model company wanting to keep an option open to make current cars (road or track) would be reluctant to test the friendship.
Is that so? Didn't Boeing fight about the B-17 use. Or perhaps it is differnt with names than designs?
I’m certain on the 25 yrs for car designs - but not sure of the details. Bburago fought the case.
Don’t think it applies to marks in continuing use (name, logo) and pretty sure it was Eu law.
Disney is about to lose the ability to charge royalties for the very first mickey mouse cartoons. I think the relevant time period there was 99 years.

No idea on boeing. Perhaps nobody wants the fight with boeing.

Minefield!

It's not that simple and the last judgment of the trial of Ferrari vs Brumm give explanations:

In EU, if I well understood, the drawing and shape is free after 25 years but not the trademarks.
so a plastic manufacturer could release a sacle model of a single seat racing car of 1992 that reproduce accurately the FW14B for example but he couldn't sale it as a Williams FW14B without agreement of Williams.

That would explain why some kits of that Japanese manufacturer with the 3 characters has kits that do not name the brand. Now it makes sense or why cars in video games got made up names.

I doubt they would correct any of the issues from the original, and who knows when it might actually be available. I have an original from back in the day about 90% finished. When it came time to put the wheels and tires on I lost interest. This should stir up the aftermarket biz for this.

Well I gues it's really coming our way now

Thats good news, thanks for posting.
With PE and templated carbon decals too!
I am 99.9% sure that the tooling for the plastic parts will be exactly the same as the original release.
James - I will get to use your wheels after all!

Probably the same as their Alfa 179 model, or slightly higher due to inflation.

My hopes, is that cottage industry provides some upgrade parts for such an Iconic car. I built this years ago and think anodized wheels and brakes would be a good start.
