Tamiya Williams FW11 1/20 Scale Mansell
Just finished up. I wanted this to be a quick fun build but it didnt turn out that way. The kit itself was fine, parts fit well and the engine cover fit well which is always nice. The decals I used gave me some trouble , they were kind of thick. Painting the livery also gave me a few headaches but I expected that. Glad I'm finished though and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome.
Paints I used were,
Tamiya Fine White Primer
Gravity Colors Williams Racing Yellow GC-147
Gravity Colors Williams Racing Blue GC-146
Gravity Colors Titanium White GC-102
Gravity 2k Clear
Various Tamiya Acrylics and some metallics by Alcad.
Decals are from Museum Collection
Belts are Tamiya
Tire stencil from MFH
Hope you guys like it.

Lovely! How did you overcome that awful front suspension clusterf.... ? I've toyed with several ideas but haven't tried any yet. Always interested in other peoples take on that problem.

I snipped the arms and used sheet styrene to make sockets that the arms would connect to. They werent pretty but they got the job done.

Hello,
Nice and clean build, the painting is top.
It’s always cool when the engine cover is fitting so well to have the 2 options open and close so clean, but it is not easy to manage for the kit maker.
Cheers

Nice build!
The solution with the suspensions is great. Not pretty, sure, but it doesn't matter as you don't see it and it does the job.
Thank you for sharing!

Wonderful build!!
… and yes, we’ve all experienced the joy of that front suspension ‘solution’. . Your approach is excellent.

Congrats, great build of the car in which Nigel almost became worldchampion! It was also the era when carbon fibre chassis was the way to go.
Well, putting on carbon fibre decals on the chassis and engine parts is a great challence and a lot of work, Than fore sure it won't be a quick build.
