Sad news: R.I.P. Forghieri
Hi everybody,
maybe you already know, on november 2nd the great ing. Mauro Forghieri passed away
I had the pleasure and honor of meeting him in a couple of occasions, in wich he has been always kind and full of stories and anecdotes.
One of the greatest designer of all time, father of tens of Ferrari (not only F1), and a great man.

His cars were the most beautiful Ferrari F1 and SP ever. I love the 312P, 330P4, 312B or 312T

I love the Dino 166P and 206SP's. He ran Ferrari and SEFAC during the golden years. It would also be almost impossible to make a P3 or P4 or 312F1 1966 Monza/67 Monaco/SPA look better. Perfect looking and sounding cars.
May he rest in peace after a long life.

One of the greatest automobile engineers that has ever graced our world. Humble, graceful, dignified, He was beloved by Enzo, who trusted him with his greatest gift to us, his racing department!
The photos of Mauro leaning into the cockpit giving words of advice & wisdom to Niki, Gilles, Jody, John Surtees, Jack Ickx, etc. are priceless

Re: Sad news: R.I.P. Forghieri
He gave so much to Motorsport. A winner: he won all, several times... many World Titles with Sport cars (more important than F1 Constructors at that time). F1 world champion. Started 26 years old and was ready and strong enough to be the leader of design for ALL the car (engines, chassis, aero), lead the drivers and manage Enzo... Always humble and open to talk with anyone... he was adult when young and young when adult, just look at his pictures... talking of him is like have the keys to reopen F1 legendary heaven of 60s, 70s and 80s...

Re: Sad news: R.I.P. Forghieri
He was an admirer of Colin Chapman, but he always wanted to point out an important difference between them.
Mauro was an employee. Every part he designed was subject to a cost, a reason, a procedure.
He won in Sport Cars with a ridiculous budget compared to Ford or Porsche. A budget set by the Scuderia.
Colin was the owner. He could do whatever his genius suggested on his cars.
For Mauro, Colin was one of a kind. Unique.

Re: Sad news: R.I.P. Forghieri
Hello everybody,
in my humble opinion, Mauro forghieri was the greatest Formula 1 car designer in history. His skills ranged in all departments of the car, from the engine to the aerodynamics, to the chassis. All the other very good designers had skills only in specific areas of the car. Forghieri was able to design an engine, a wing, a gearbox in practice, the whole car in both Formula 1 and Sport Prototypes.
He was also a great driver of the team and his impetus (hence the nickname "Furia") in many races gave Ferrari that extra boost that made it prevail on the circuits.
Rest in peace Great Mauro !!!
