Good news, no more repainting this time :)

Mainly polishing and some secondary paintwork (door rubbers, headlight housing, interior). Here are some pictures of some loose test fitting. Lots of gaps, but I didn't tighten the screws yet.

Thoroughly polished the cowling with Tamiya course and fine. The doors even look a bit dull now, so they'll get another round. Did not use the finest compound ("finish"), I think it's more than enough glossy as it is.

Starting to look like a car! The glue that holds the side windows still needs to dry out transparently (I hope...)

Couldn't help myself... needed to see the rear cowling installed (not polished yet)

Thankfully it still fits

On the left side the rear cowling needs a little more work. The inner wheel well is slightly in the way when the wheel is installed.. probably an easy fix

Perfect!
Perfect in case of rescuing the decals.
And perfect in seeing a MFH with a closed cowling.

Amazing Marcus, no one would ever realize the problems you solved, but it was worth the effort it took and brought it to that level you reached!
Thank`s for posting the great WIP, love to follow this. :D

Hi Marcus,

The polished body work looks great. I don't think cars in the '70 were highly polish in real.

Thanks guys!

@CK: you're absolutely right and I agree. But in the end I prefer the appearance "as a model" over 100% period-correct accuracy. I certainly wouldn't want to overdo the shine, but when photographing and using good lighting, it's easier to work with a glossy model in my experience. And.. when I was thinking about this, when taking scale into consideration, shouldn't a model that's 12 x smaller than the original be finished with a finer "grit" than the orginal?

Anyway, minor update this time. I'm glad that I can focus on other thing now :)

After the glue dried, the side windows looked nasty, so I took the them out and cleaned things up again. Improvised a mask for spraying, so now the ugly parts are hidden

Hope to get the front cowling installed this weekend.

Hi Marcus,

I agree with your statement about smoother surface for scale effect. I prefer to polish color coats for vintage cars and just a thin clear coat to protect decals. It is very much a personal taste.

The repaint of the window looks very nice.

Your are very close to the finish line!
