F1 Race in Miami Florida in 2022

Date is still TBD but it better be early in the calendar or VERY late (hurricane season peaks in September). Centered around the Hard Rock stadium. I live maybe 40 minutes away but I'd probably stay at the nearby Hard Rock Hotel for the weekend.

Perhaps early as in before or after the Canadian GP. Having it late in the calendar may conflict with the race at Austin, assuming the race at COTA continues to live on?
I would be curious as to what the nightly rates at that hotel are on a quiet weekend versus the F1 weekend.
Hotels know they have a captive audience and will take advantage of it.
For the 2000 US F1 GP at IMS (the 1st year they raced at Indy) we stayed at a nearby Best Western. The Thursday night was $40, $50 if we wanted a room with a view of the pool.
Friday through Sunday night it was $250/night.

Most of the hotels in the area, which admittedly is not fancy, are currently in the $100-$150 range. It's very off-season now. Closer to the beach they're more expensive. At the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, which ain't that close, they're $400+. I'd be curious to see what packages are put together. I'd be interested in hotel for 3 nights, tickets and shuttle to the track. I'd drive to the hotel and park it for the long weekend. My wife would not be interested in it even though she did go to an SCCA race with me at Bridgehampton back in 1983. My ex- and I went to a couple of GP's at The Glen and a Can-Am at Bridgehampton.

Well, it looks more likely than that proposed race on the Hudson in New Jersey from a few years back!

Never underestimate the power of money combined with local politicians I never thought the Valencia GP would take place and we had 5 editions!!!

Not super confident, this has been talked about for a few years and feels a bit like the race in Jersey. This is the third big change they've made, but its been a few months since they announced the layout and it hasn't been pushed back yet.

But have they started building any of the necessary infra structure? Garages, etc..? (ie, has anyone actually started spending any REAL money on this yet?)

Re: F1 Race in Miami Florida in 2022
I’ll believe it when cars actually roll out of the garages for practice. We’ve seen this too many times before, promoters present a proposal for a race to a city council and all sounds awesome, then the folks running the city start to realize how much hosting a race is actually going to cost, and race quietly goes away. Anybody remember the proposed Grand Prix of Boston Indycar race?

Well. there have been open-wheel races in sillier places in the US. The Meadowlands in NJ through the parking lots, Cesar's Palace (I think) in Las Vegas, through the lots again, Long Beach and Detroit streets and that board track in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn!
