Thomas, loving the project. I would say the Pirelli tires need gloss clear over at least the side walls.

You have been so iterative, that hopefully this will come across constructive (as intended). Do you think the sidewalls should have a bigger curve/bulge out over the rim? Hard to tell from the previous update.

I designed a different shape with more bulging sidewalls and more round thread also.
Paint is semi gloss.

The wheels are not finished in this status, because of the red color issue of the tire marking I wrote above. So after all I will paint the side walls with gloss/semi gloss vanish. There are also missing some other tire markings for the tire set and the driver initials. :)

Maybe you are right and the tires need more rounded. First of all I used the existing kits (Tamiya, New Scratch, DTM) as a guide.

I have already exchanged ideas with Redbox and also think his tires are very well designed. Maybe that's exactly what you mean!

I also looked through a few more pictures and just as I remembered it and also did the wets and intermediates, the side surface is not so rounded.
It is rather only round at the top towards the tread and then it goes almost flatly over to the rim.
I think the curvature of the tread is strongly related to the air pressure. I can be wrong too, but I'm not that far off with the design.

This is what I figured out for tyres in 2021 from FIA regulation, Pirelli specifications, and estimates from photo of W12.

Hope this will be useful.

The tyre picture is drawn by me. The W12 is from internet.

Actually, I can't really find time at the moment, but today I used a few minutes to at least finish the tires and rims that I still had here on my workstation. :D
I haven't looked at the other tire shape yet. I think I'll do that when I'm done with the McLaren kit.
