Thanks all.
Yes, that's right. Anyway easier to make a replacement, as no fluo nvolved...
Bigasshammm wrote: I did think the nose number was too small and coincidentally it's not the kit decals. I used one of Indycals fluo numbers for it. But it was the same size as what's offered in the kit. Did the numbers change at all? Maybe for the British GP the nose was smaller? Since that's the gp the kit represents.
No... numbers were the same all season. They might look smaller due to the lack of M'boros, so much white space. But it's just an optical effect. See:

IIRC, Michael did his excellent set of fluo numbers before the MP4/2 release. These look spot on for the MP4/8. 1984 numbers were most probably same size as 1981 and 1982. In 1983 hey were quite bigger.
See here, a 1983 pic and an then early '84 one with the '83 car:

This one is excellent to see all sizes:

Anyway, it's not that starnge that numbers are uncorrectly sized, which is noticeable when nose is, let's say, "crowded". See this nr. 1 struggling a bit to find room enough:

Good to gear there's not a thick layer of clear and it's fixable. I promise to tell if I find a correctly sized spare. Also will try to tell the correct size. And the bad thing of thiese cases is that it's not about the decals measuring 8,5 mm instead of 7... it's the free space what the eye goes for, then a gap of 3 instead of 1,5 makes a noticeable difference.
Sorry to take the debate there, for what is a so nice build!

Great build, fantastic display!! I just received the PE and CF decals for mine, your build left me wanting to start mine... if I won't have some five "about-to-finish" kits on my table...

Thanks all, you flatter me!

Anyway today was our club's annual show and contest. It was entered in 1/20 and larger autos. There were only 4 entries.

Some form of 1/12 touring car from the 40s it looked like. - 3rd place
Some form of farming tractor. -2nd place
A 1/12 Lotus 78 that wins everywhere even though I'm not a fan of it. It's too clean and stale and looks too much like a model instead of a replica. -1st place

And apparently the McLaren was last place. I'm pretty burned out of shows and am
Sick of the politics and bs of them. Doubt I'll be entering anything else for quite some time.

Yeah... in the end you just enter so other model fans can see one good model in the flesh, that's it. I seriously thank the guys who enter models in contests, regardless they get prizes or not. I think that's the approach you gotta have in order not to get p*ssed... ;-) More models, more fun, that's it! The model's great and the guys who visited the event and saw it surely came back home happier. :D

Nice job, Kris! It's great to see one of these Beemax cars finished. Now we know what one should look like!

Cheers, Chris
