GB Turbo Era - B186 Mexico re-build

Post by lezdep »

I plan to start a re-build of Studio27 Benetton B186 Mexico GP kit. I've got well started one with 4 missing white decals.
Below are photos of what I have to start with. Plan is to strip exisiting paint and decals back to bare resin and metal and
re-start build from the beginning. Problem is that I could not get replacement decals. If anyone with this kit in their stash
could scan decal set for me, that would be extremely helpful. I need specifically decals 8, 9, 34, 35.

Dont have the kit, but i have the decals! I can scan them for you, no problem. Would you be so kind and scan the undertray, the side panels of the rear wing and the complete chassis for me? Working (slowly) on a B188->B186 conversion an need some templates to scratch some parts? Scanning right now...

Nice one, I had considered doing one of these too, but since you're into it I'll go for some variety. I have a mint kit in the stash, so if wither of you need any photos or scans, just let me know.

I would even try to strip ONLY the decals as the base paint looks fine. Then I'd overpaint the green which I see REALLY dark.
I am familiar with this build. Gotta have seen it elsewhere. I rmember the too dark paint.
Count on the white stuff... so easy....

Oh, those early Benettons, they are so beautiful, aren't they?

I hope you can find new decals for it.

No that's not for me. I think you would know me well by now. I will strip it all to bare metal and resin and start over.
I prefer to do my own preparation work, up to my own standards, you know :)

Thank you very much. That would be great.

Eagle50, nothing special is planned for this build. Just basic OOB. There are some engine details in the kit, but they
likely won't be visible when body is mated to the floor.

Spent about 4 hours yeasterday removing old paint, cleaning different parts and disassembling engine. All old paint was
stripped using 90% isopropyl alcohol, sand paper and old toothbrushes. Next step will be to disassemble gearbox and rear
suspension. Then preparartion work will start. After old paint was stripped, it became pretty apparent how many seems
actually need filling with putty and how many other places have to be cleaned up. Also still have to repair broken tail on
the body.

Here is quick shot of current state.

Btw, if anyone has advise on what green paint is correct for this car, let me know. I'm still undecided.
