GB Turbo Era - 1981 Ferrari 126CK Canada GP

Post by Starr »

Hi all,

This will be my contribution to the Turbo Era Group Building, the 1981 Ferrari 126CK Canada GP, Fujimi kit.

As I mentioned before, I won't be able to actually work on it before January '15 due to my job. This will be my first Fujimi kit and I'll apreciate all tips that members of this Forum could give me.

Thanks and best regards,

Good luck with the build. I've built a couple of these now, the only big issue is upper body fit. I would suggest building as much of the chassis as you can then test fit the body before you paint it.

Thanks Alex, I appreciate your suggestion. I was wondering about if I'll build this model with the body out and put as much detail as I can but I couldn't find many reference pictures online. I saw a few 1982 Ferraris built that way and for some reason the builds of the 1981 car I had found were all with the body glued on.

Oh well! I will think some more about the pros & cons of both options (body on/out).

Thanks again

Hm.. by putting this up, you have prevented anyone from building the same car, even though they can build it between now and January before you even get started.
Wish you all the best in the build, but..

Hi BMW,

It sounds that you want to build this same model. If that is the case, I don't see any problem with that. On the 70's GB coincidently, there were two Williams FW07, one of them mine and we came along very well. Another member built several Tyrrells P34.

The most important thing to remember is that the GBs are a way for us to build that model kit on our stash and have fun with it.

Relax my friend and please, do not refrain of build the Ferrari just because there is somebody else here that wants to build the same model kit  Go for it! :D

For me and, I believe, many others in this great Forum, it's alway good to see what others are building. That gives me that spark "oh, what a nice model! I want to build it too" :D

Kindly regards,

Starr

My regards to you as well :)
I am not as good a builder, so to have two identical cars side by side would not be in my best interest ;)

Hi BMW,

Is the best of my interest that other fellow Forum members enjoy building models and participate on the Forum's Group Building. So I propose to you to take over the Ferrari 126CK build and I will choose another model to enter this GB  I have 7 other options of of kits that I can choose from and I'll be really happy to do so

This way we will not lost your participation :D

Please, go ahead, open that box, start building the kit. Don't forget to post your progress and most important, have fun! :D :D :D

No no, I can't ask that! :)
I will backtrack, apologise, and will find something else to build!

I have something more ambitious (but rubbish) in mind!
