Re: Ferrari 1512 1/12 Giorgino Model
Sorry it’s been a while, motivation, plus a Revell EJ10, Tamiya Brabham, Williams FW13b, etc etc all got in the way, I tend to cycle round projects, edging them all closer to completion!
I had worries about the overall accuracy, but had no direct side on pictures to check against, until I found this:- (Interesting the Aero boys all agonise over 1mm over/under compared to 3 views, where as long as the overall shape is right, we tend to be happy!)
Compared to this which you might have occasionally noticed in the background:- Turns out this is pretty accurate. Only problem I can see is that the dash should be vertical and in line with the triple row of rivets.
So the problem is that the kit tub is about 10mm too shallow…..
Which led to this:- After some band saw action Super glue and sanding note difference in height!

Compare to original, I had attempted to add material to the top edge of the original, but this made the top of the tub too narrow.
Still needs refinement. Once the overall shape is right, I can make the bulkheads,…….. again……!
Malc
After hacking around with the kit carbon fiber cowl supplied and hating it, I decided to make that also. from this angle the camera makes the nose looks too pointed, but its OK really!Still needs refinement. Once the overall shape is right, I can make the bulkheads,…….. again……!

Wow, what a great kit! I'd never heard of Giorgino. And what an amazing job you're doing with it, Malc! Your attention to the smallest detail is making my head spin. This is going to be a beautiful -- and pretty accurate -- build.
Cheers, Chris

Great project!
I see you solved a lot of problems that I still have to run in to on my Matra, so some of your pics will be of great help for me.
Btw, are you still looking for those Porsche rims?
Cheers, Marcus

Excellent work and attetion to detail Malc...
Been following the build from the start and found
your approach to the kit exceptional. Should look
great when finished

I've always believed that you should never, ever give up and you should always keep fighting, even when there's only a slightest chance.
