I haven't been to a GP since 1999 and I don't intend going to another.
You will not get into the paddock after Thursday unless you have the appropriate pass or know someone who can get you access to an appropriate pass. "Every" person is hard carded in and out of the paddock, no exceptions! Being in the paddock does not include the pit lane or garages. Corporate sponsor guests and Paddock Club guests are usually the only ones who will be able to do pitlane escorted tours or the pit walkabouts Friday to Sunday.

Well, that does it. I was really thinking about going as I only live about 80+ miles south of Austin. But I guess I was naive enough to think for $400 dollars I was finally able to see a F1 car up close in person or get an autograph from one of the top drivers. Speed Channel will do.

So I read in local rag that the Historic Grand Prix cars will be running on the track but again we will not be able to get close to them. Great list of cars that will be here...guess I will wave as they go by. Crap

As Don said, we are going to be there.

I was adamant I would not pay the extortionate price they want for a grand stand seat, so went for the high priced General admission. :( Still think its way to high, hence I "Griped" about it. http://www.macsmodeling.com/The%20Gripe ... 202012.htm
I'm going with an attitude, so I cannot be disappointed.

I see no point in committing to a seat when I have not seen the track. I want to go, check it all out and then decide for the future where the best place to sit is.

Don did buy a parking pass at the track as well.

So, we would like to meet with any, and all of you that may be going, if you are, please send an email to us at USGP@macsmodeling.com and put your cell phone number in the email, so we can contact you when we are there. My number is 480-258-1050. We will be arriving in Austin on Thursday 15th.
Anyone in the area, like Jerry, that is not going to the race, but would like to meet in Austin, also let us know a place to meet. It would be great to meet you.

We will also have some "give-away" items (Kits, Tamiya) if you catch up with us, and maybe a T-shirt or two.
If there is something (model, part, decal) particular you want, let me know and I will bring it along.

I doubt that I will ever go back to an F1 race at Austin after this. Especially when MotoGP tickets will be $139.00 for stands and $89.00 for GA, and Ausi V8's will be $89.00 for stands and $69.00 for GA.

We look forward to meeting some of you there.

Cheers,
Mac

Mac:
Maybe Waxdart could suggest a restaurant or bar to meet at in Austin or Austin area. Mac, Austin traffic is unique in that traffic on IH35 is a nightmare beginning early afternoon. Don't get stuck out there! A general posting for a place and time to meet would be great.

We are staying in Bastrop. It may be more easily accessed than Austin. Waxdart may disagree, but my opinion would be that Austin is going to be a Mad House. I am happy with whatever the group decides. :D

Look forward to seeing this race, i just hope the TV coverage is decent. I do like the list of the Historic Grand Prix cars running, shame they will not be covered on TV.
For those going i hope it is a great weekend for you all....
