BMW's entry

Post by BMW »

Hi!

I am hoping to finish either of these cars in time for the 2010 F1M speed build championship.
I wanted to finish the first one for the 2009 group build, but I ran out of time :(

Slight update on the 2006 model.
added the red decal stripe, and getting it ready for blue paint.
Under tray assembly is almost done, just needs one decal and clear cote.

Ages have gone past...

In between these posts, I had ruined the paintjob after my masking tape pulled the paint off with it.

I tried to dip it in oven cleaner while uttering some harsh language, but the only thing I got for my efforts was ruined front decal.
The paint wouldn't budge, so I continued with what I had.

I fixed most of the spots, but one difficult one still annoys me (look at the white-blue area in front of the sidepod) But with a bit of patience, and some paint, I hope to have it done by the time the clear goes on.
Sharp eyes will note that the BMW front teeth are from the 2008 model, that will be fixed too. Hopefully.

cool-
Your photo of the primed bodywork is great. What an odd object a modern F-1 chassis is! without the wheels, I wonder if a constructor from the 1950s would even recognize it as a racecar?

Hello

Thank you for the words. :)

Here is the latest update:
I was very unhappy with the look of the finished look of the 2006 model's paint. I thought it looked too thick, and it was a shame to not be happy with the model after I had spend so much time correcting it, and scratch building the front and rear wings.
Next, I plan to modify the fairings on the front suspension, and prime it white.

On the pic you can also see that the kit is very multimedia, with both plastic, styrene, resin, white metal parts and loads of putty and glue.

Things are happening.
Not by much, but progress is being made.

Both cars are painted in all colors. Still need a bit of ouching up here and there. In particular the F1.08, after I forgot to add the nose cameras to it. Doh.

Wow, those are nice looking BMW's. A question, how did you mask of the white color and what did you use, because i always have runners, when i mask with tamiya tape.
