As clear coat was flowing well on my F60 and F2007, and I had some left over, I decided
to take a plunge and apply wetter clear coat to finished 248F1 parts. They had quite a
bit of orange peal. Now they look a lot better. First time I tried Zero 2K I added 15% of
thinner. That mix ration and lack of experience produced the orange peal, I think. Since
then I started to mix 20-25% thinner in and it works a lot better for me. Worked good for
RB5 and worked fine now for 248F1. Glad I didn't chicken out and improved it. Will polish parts
a bit and them it'll be pretty much ready for assembly. Main obstacle at the moment are
brakes. More machining required. And some resin casting in order to duplicated machined
parts.

As usual, don't hold your breath. Updates will continue to be slow.

Progress update - started to put it together. There will be no close up pictures, because there are
lot of small screw ups with glue all over the place. Well, there is only one way to master skills of applying
the glue - exercise. And that means more screwed models, unfortunately. I've decided to get more
exercises on plastic kits first and then return to RB5 build, when I have better skills. So RB5 is on hold
for a while. F60 and F2007 are next in "training course" ;)

sergey, to apply glue, use the smallest metal wire you can find. you have to keep cleaning it as the glue will dry but it's worth it.

Hey that's great advice. I would never come up to that. Thanks for the tip Mr. Grumpy

Thank, Phil. I have 4 different ones. I've picked up quite a few wonderful tips from you 018 WIP thread.
It is a very helpful and enjoyable thread.

More fitting and gluing done. All parts in the pictures are glued now. Took a while to figure out how
to assemble front wing, but result is not bad. Fit of engine cover is pretty bad. And it's not really a
Fujimi's fault. After all kit wasn't designed for that. However original Fujimi's design did not help for
sure in the first place. While there are many faults in this build, there are also bunch of positive things.
This build was my "test bed" for over a year now. I learned a lot during this time. Many skills acquired
and improved. Those skills already helped with other builds. Hopefully next build will be a bit better.
And as F60 is next in finishing pipeline, Tamiya's engineering should help with a lot better end result.

Rear wing is next. Then it'll be on hold for a bit until I manage to make detailed brakes for it and figure out
how to mate them with kit's uprights and wheels.
