PlastikSurgeon and myself will be attending - first time for either of us. We'd love to meet any other F1M members who might be there.

Re: Anyone here going to the Goodwood FoS this year?
I would love to go to Goodwood...but more to the Revival or the Meeting. But I think it's really complicated....I need a place to stay, looks like they are extremely expensive and same for the tickets. If I go with the family, tickets for the Revival are over 2.000GBP. This is the part that held me off from going to Goodwood so far...the extreme ticket prices. Tickets to other classic events like Spa or Zandvoort are around 30€ per ticket....nevertheles I need to go one day !!!
Enjoy your trip and tell us everything about it !

Sadly not going this year but I've been there twice before and it is an amazing experience. Much more crowded the second time I went 2022 as opposed to the first (2011) but still a lot of opportunity to see historically significant race cars close up. I have some excellent model references from my two trips. Also, there are occasionally special events such as Wayne Rainey's ride up the hill in 2022 with his contemporaries. I traveled down there from London daily using the great train network in the UK.

I was hoping to try and get there this year, haven't been since 2011, but things haven't worked out right. Would have been great to meet up with yourselves and any other members.
Have a great weekend and please update us on it.

Re: Anyone here going to the Goodwood FoS this year?
Hi
Haven't been there since 2014. The ever increasing prices of tickets and accomodation that had to be further and further away due to the enormous demand and ever increasing prices stopped the fun for me. It is no doubt THE place to see old racing cars and the organisers preservation and remembrance of the milestones of motorsport history is legendary. The eventplanning is top notch and everything runs on schedule. If the weather is great, there is no better place to stay!
With that said I am glad I had the experience of older Goodwood FOS between 1999 and 2014, where the crowds only got bigger over the years and the amount of impressive and very large corporate structures gradually removed the smaller shops and tents so prominent in the early years.
These days I enjoy the youtube full event coverage it has to be said!
Best regards
Flemming

Re: Anyone here going to the Goodwood FoS this year?
Flemming, that almost coincides with my time of going. I was 1999-2011. The first year I attended, saw Mikas McLaren MP4/8 with bodywork off and accessible for photos. I couldn't believe it was possible as a general admission attendee. That was the joy of the event, the public were trusted to be allowed up close to the cars and drivers. Felt like the organisers genuinely wanted you to enjoy the event compared to F1 that just wanted you to empty your wallet and then stand behind the fence miles away.
Stood behind a McLaren MP4/6 whilst the Honda V12 was being warmed up, I was so close I could feel the exhaust gas on my legs. The sound was phenomenal.

That coverage is increasingly annoying me.
I wonder where they left the people that knew what they were talking about. It's now on par with german RTL F1 commentary when it was still on air...or even below.
My last Festival was 2014 as well. Would like to go again but mybe shouldn't when I read these comments.
