Hi
Not sure if this is of any help, but together side by side is a 1/18 B186 (Minichamps) & 1/18 B188 (Spark) diecast.
I have tried to align the front axle on a solid line for both cars, and it shows the different positions of the driver relative to this.
I tried to get as high up as possible to flatten out, but without tripod etc this was quite difficult (nor was the lighting good).
BENETTON B186 from a B188 Anyone?

Would the B188 have been made to comply with the new regulations about position of the drivers feet relative to the front wheel. I seem to remember that it was for new cars built for 1988.

Not sure if that´s irony!! though we gotta have an open mind always anyway if driver position has to be moved, everything´s possible!43rdMichael wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:37 pm Yeah, a fuj 97T could be a closer start than the b188….
Wow, really interesting. Sure it helps, at least to reconsider previous statements That said, diecast companies "have been known to make mistakes…from time to time. Yes, they did and that was quite obvious on FW13, MP4/4, Lotus 100T, among others... Anyway Berger is quite tall so maybe distance between driver´s back and front axle was already unusually big on the B186. As said, I´ll revisit the pictures.

OK, here's the pic with the (hopefuly) accurate and tested measurements.
Yep a bit different to my initial approach and not quite sure what I'll do...
Anyway enjoy, and here it is, for the record!
PS: that's millimeters and at 1/20th, surely!
