One factor is the pressure of the can. Do you always warm the can to the same temperature? May be the pressure is too high. Try not to warm the can and see if the result is good.

Are you using primer, sometimes the primer does this to TS paints, especially automotive primers

Re: What is happening here? Paint question.
No heat with that last pair. Both had no primer. I've actually had to go back and prime over the crap finish ,which helps. But the 2 spoons, 24 hours apart were identical in their execution and the weather wasn't that different. It is perplexing/ annoying.

How old are the products you're using?

One was a brand new - TO ME - can. No idea how long the place I ordered it from had it. It may be as simple as no primer, as I prefer to not prime plastic bits as it dulls the finish, I feel.

I always use a primer... but I'm also always using an airbrush.
Re: What is happening here? Paint question.
I feel (lol) that you are probably wrong in that assessment. Primer is an essential part of the paint process - it provides something for the paint to key on to, it prevents interaction between the paint and the base, it is the literal foundation of a good finish. Perhaps you need to try some different primer and match the primer to your colour coat for better results?

See how nice and glossy that last spoon was? No primer.

Care to guess which spoon has primer and which doesn't?
