Re: PLASTIC Upcoming F1 Releases 2023
Perfectly finished and weathered kits will never be anything for me. What I like is to build plastic kits, not collect ready made. I did start buying some 1/43 die casts but sold them of as they didn't give me any joy.
3D printed kits may be of interest to me if they can be glued without using epoxy or super glue. I think that plastic models will have a place in the future but perhaps car models will suffer more than plane modelling. I have a feeling that collecting is a bigger thing among car buffs. But I don't worry. My stash is big enough to keep me building a very long time.

Great video!
There's an Alfa Romeo 155 Touring Car (BTCC Champ) behind the BMW 320 that I hadn't seen before.

I agree with Bjorn. Pre-printed tires are okay, but I'd rather do the rest myself.

I agree, I think of myself as a model builder. I have no interest in putting a few pre finished parts together just so I can get something finished. The fun for me is building. I'm not knocking 3D printing etc, it's another tool to use but I don't want to end with a 'shake and make' kit. Where's the challenge?

The challenge is to design the parts as best i can.
A printed kit is far away from shake and make for me.
For me is modeling right now to see a design growing to a kit which can be build. When the prototype is done i hardly lost the interest on it and than it's time to move to the next. That's real fun for me.

The Italeri McClaren MP4/2C is being expected at end of June. My understanding the pricepoint is $225.00.

I've seen your builds and there is great skill in what you do, casting and now printing your own parts is a fantastic skillset to have.capri-schorsch wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 2:06 am The challenge is to design the parts as best i can.

Have to agree with Christian. 3D printed models are a far cry from "Shake and Make". You must be thinking of Tamiya kits that you have built so many of!daveyman wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 2:28 pm I agree, I think of myself as a model builder. 3D printed models give the builder a completely different set of challenges over plastic or even resin models.
If one can not use the term "model builder" after completing a 3D printed model then the term should never be used for this hobby

Now let's get back on topic!!
