MFH Ferrari F1 2007 1/12
My next project is the 2007 in the China GP. It's a curbside or proportion kit as most of the modern F1 kits from MFH.
Resin cast parts are smooth and need only few preparation. Only problem are the holes in the white metal end plates. You have to paint the single parts of the complex front wing and glue them at the end, but this stage is too late for puttying.
So I soldered the outer hole but saved the inner hole for a strong fit of the wing.

Hi,
Will also follow with interest. My current project is the 1/12 F2008 also from MFH. Same parts breakdown, fits well with a few file swipes. One question tough : what paint will you use? I used Gravity Colors rosso scuderia on the F2008.
Cheers

Nice start, I'll be following as well.
2 Quick questions..how do you go about cleaning / treating the resin for paint, and the white metal parts, do you sand those smooth or ....?
Very intricate looking car.
Cheers

Great start and great idea to solder the outside holes. Will follow with interest and also would like to know your plans for that special F2007 color…

Re: MFH Ferrari F1 2007 1/12
At first to answer the questions:
I prepare the resin parts by soaking in isopropyl and sanding with 3200 grid.
White metal parts were sanded and cleaned by acetone.
, metal primer and dark primer.
The only supplier for the right color is Gravity Colors Rosso Scuderia F1. I like the dark perl red tone of the Ferraris from Monaco 2007 to mid season 2008. Having prepared the parts I used the Gravity dark primer as it was recommended on the bottle. But the result was disappointing. The red tone was too dark.
Colors on photos are a little bit suspect, the photo will not show the tone as it was real. So I had to sand all parts, primed with light grey primer and ordered a new two bottle set with undercoat and base cote.
The result was really satisfying. Next photo shows the parts decaled and clear coated. The M... decals are aftermarket products.
