Good afternoon,

Thank you!

The structure is painted and the assembly of the elements continues.

Image

Image

I made the connector that supplies the rear brake and clutch master cylinders by soldering copper wire.
It's easier for the front brakes.

Image

Image

Shock absorbers are installed.
The springs are painted black, but they are a bit short…and very stiff to stretch them!
So I quickly turned shims 6.2mm in diameter for 0.5 in thickness: impeccable! (Perfect)

Image

The front box is gradually being completed.

First, the small tank that comes in the kit needed a bit of work.
I started to take care of him, but was not satisfied with what I would obtain… I made a new one.
It is turned in a log of 2024 (…) detailed with strips of Speed tape and equipped with a brass tenon also taken out of the lathe.
The front bulkhead is riveted.

Hello everyone,

Back to business, the 312B and I, after a short break.

Pleasant temperature, a little rain, flights for the day cancelled:
Let’s go painting!

I'm still doing a test with the rivets that I'm going to use before taking out the airbrush.

Image

That suits me.
I prepare the material and mix a little paint for my undercoat: pink this time.

Image

Image

Image

…and finally, the Rosso Corsa an hour later.

Image

In order to prepare the installation of the race numbers, I decided to paint the white circles... as a preamble to the decals... or not.

So we wait a little over an hour after the red coat, make masks and camouflage.

Image

Image

…And spray the white.

Image

Then unmask quickly, the time to clean the gun.

Image

It will be easier to count the number of white rivets needed.

Voila, voila.
Next very soon.

Hi Pascal,
always compliments for your work!
I too am working on the body of a Ferrari, the 312 PB in 1/12 scale by MFH and I would be grateful if you could tell me which brand are the rivets you are using for the body of the 312B that appear in your photo posted.
Thank you,
Greetings,

Hi Pascal,
You always do such amazing work, and it is always a pleasure to follow your builds.
I am curious to know what brand paint you use for the body. You said that you allowed an hour between the red body coat and the white roundels.
It seems like such a short time to be masking and spraying a second colour.
I have no doubt that it is successful, but something I would never have the confidence to do.
Looking forward to your next updates.

I don’t want to butt into Pascal’s description of yet another wonderful model but could some one please explain the reason for / use of the knotted string on the rear deck of the 312B?

Look at the following links, on the rear bodywork, above the yellow stripe, there is a horizontal row of rivets, just behind the cockpit cowling two rivets appear to have been omitted and replaced by the ends of a knotted length of string, similarly towards the back end of the same row of rivets (nearest the camera) there is another length of knotted string where you would expect to see two rivets, this appears on both sides of the rear deck. The string would have to be supporting something light, I don’t think that there is anything electrical that far back in the 321B so it wouldn’t be a wiring loom, I am left wondering if they could be supporting either brake pipes or possibly an oil temperature / pressure gauge line. Any ideas anyone?

These two links show the 312B at, I believe Spa:
https://primotipo.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/forg.jpg
https://3oneseven.com/media/2022/07/up/ ... a-1970.jpg

And this link shows the knotted string in place when Amon was testing the car in 1969:

There are other pictures on the internet showing the string still in place when the 312B made a couple of appearance late in the season when the 312B2 was not performing as hoped, from this I would hazard a guess that the string was used on all the 312B cars.
