AAR Reynard Toyota, Revell, 1/25

Post by MarcoSaupe »

Hi

I'll try to build a few more cars this year, so I started with a simple one - the classic Revell 98 Champcar Reynard. I didn't invest much, just added some seatbelts.
The worst part were the kit decals, brittle and difficult to get over corners... well, even difficult to get onto flat surfaces. Setter and a hair dryer on the highest setting from closest distance are the only way to get them on the kit. The eagle nose was terrible, broke in several places and had wrinkles on others... I sanded it flat, put a coat of clear on, sprayed yellow over it. Looks OK from a distance, but don't use a magnifying glass... well, for the next Champcar kit I got some from Indycals.
Painted with TS26, 29, 8 and a mix of 35 and 43, Mr. Hobby Super Clear on top.

Hope you like it.

Hi Marco,

The finish model looks very nice! It is a very clean build.

I have done this kit years ago when it was first released. The decals are like plastic cards! I ended up painting the stripes on the side pod. One good thing is that the green and red match exactly the green and red on the wings. I have to use Future floor wax as glue to get all the small decals adhere to the body. I also have to paint the tip of the nose for the beak of the eagle.

Anyway, I very much like the eagle on the nose. It looks so great and unique

Nicely done to get it looking so good. These are great kits and fun to build. You have gone to the right place to get decals for other versions…
