You 1/43 guys are amazing. Yet again, I will show my historical ignorance by asking.....What was the reason for Lancia mounting the engine at an angle?

Aboslutely amazing job! That little engine looks great.

The engine was offset so that the driver would sit next to the driveshaft instead of up above it. That lowered the center of gravity slightly.
