At which races did the P34 have a holy seat? ..well a seat with holes anyway

Post by BMW »

Hello!
So, the question is as above:
At some race the Tyrrell P34 had a a seat with lots and lots of holes.
In which races was this seat used?

I do not have enough references to see this.

I think it depended on who was driving. I looked at this the other day. In Hiro's picture book on the P34 it looks like in 76 Scheckter had the solid seat and Depailler always had a perforated seat. In 77 both Peterson and Depailler looks like to me had perforated seats.

That is something I have wondered about as well. Now I had a look at pictures from the 1977 season an found this.
At Argentine, Brazil, US west, and Britain Ronnie had a solid seat.
At Spain and Monaco Patrick had a perforated seat. Probably in the pic from Brazil as well as there are light shining through the seat.
Later in the season the seat changed and are solid on the pictures I've seen both for Ronnie and Patrick. I've seen pictures of Ronnie's car in Austria and Canada and of Patrick's car in Germany, Holland, Canada and Japan.
But I noticed one thing when looking at pictures from Canada where I could compare both cars.
The back rest differs for the drivers. It looks like Ronnie's back rest are higher bringing the top more vertical than Patrick's that are more slanted. Now I need to reshape the fujimi seat for my Ronnie car.

That is interesting. I had no idea that the holy seat made a return in 1977!

But I think that it was with the 1976 type body in both races for Patrick.

I have to correct myself. I just found a pic from Brazil with the "holy seat" https://www.motorsportimages.com/photos ... 1016139813 and South Africa https://www.motorsportimages.com/photos ... 1017998824
