A treat to look at. I have the grey molded kit version, and I''m wondering if I should use grey or white primer under the TS56. What did you use? Great job, and thanks for any guidance regarding primer choice.

White. Grey will dull the TS56.

Re: 1/20 MPC McLaren M8D
Thanks all for your positive and kind comments. I appreciate them all
Because I had the orange plastic version, I first used the grey primer to 'kill' the orange, then followed with the white primer. Both were Tamiya.
In your case I would go white primer over the grey plastic. It should be no problem at all.
If you have any other questions, ask away, only too happy to help.
Its been nearly 30 years in the making though, so probably forgot a few things
Cheers
Tim

That would have been something to see at Zandvoort
Many years ago they had a CanAm support race at Albert Park for the GP. The noise was something else. I think there was an M8D and F racing in it. Sadly a large start line accident badly damaged quite a few cars...and we never saw them again
Thanks! It was not with out its problems though. I invested quite a bit of time to get the warped inner and outer tub to align. I used evergreen strip to build up the gaps to a nice fit as I decided I could not glue these two parts as a single unit and use putty. I pretty much tested fitted the complete assembly and pinned everything with brass or evergreen rod prior to painting. This allowed me to identify and remedy potential issues as they arose. I do have another one of these in the stash, but I think I am done - it will be a long time before I would do another.
