Maybe in a few years they will try retro to try and get fans to come to races after they attempt full electric F1 :) I was watching a video of an all electric supercar doing burnouts. What a joke unless you like the sound of tires chirping.

And Cali will be on 12 month brown outs due to electric usage thru the roof.

Hm.. remember that these are the renders based on basic ideas. As we know, the designers are going to go nuts within the regulations, so the cars might look completely different (probably with tiny winglets at each given surface)

And while they might not be the prettiest, they will be prettier than the snowplow front wing, and tower rear wing of the lats 201x, and what is more important, they will get rid of the bloody DRS. May its passing be a blessing.

Talking about ground effect cars, Peugeot will try to do in 2022's WEC what the Lotus 80 couldn't in 1979's F1: run without wings. If it works, who knows future F1 can learn something about it?

Good to see some of you are clearly above the "Meh..." and some even enthusiastic. :D
Sure it improves with the teams' real liveries.
Any clue if they will be any shorter? That'd be key for me.
Surely if they get rid of the (literally) hundreds of winglets will be good, even if this produces quite a few UB40s in the UK...
I don't like the mandatory slanted stuff (OK, we have it already, I expected them to ditch it) to make the cars "cooler" nor the Dali (good point) curved endplates.
Anyway what I'd love to see is something as varied as an MP4/2 vs a 126C4. vs an FW09 and vs a BT53... but I suppose this is long gone...

There is a mandate on shorter length. Its still not getting to 2010 levels, but its going to be shorter than what we have now. Hopefully in a year or so they mandate shorter lengths for noses and the like.

I'm hoping with the ground effects they're allowing themselves, we can get to a point where we don't need wings like we do now.

By going through the FIA 2022 technical regulations, here is the major dimensions that I can find.

Wheelbase max. = 3600 mm
Nose no more than 950 mm in front of front wheel axial
Front wing between 1350 mm to 450 mm in front of front axial
Maximum front wing width - 1950 mm
Rear wing - no more than 680 mm behind rear axial and 910 mm above reference plane
Tire diameter - 725 mm for dry tires and 735 mm for wet tires
Tire width - front: 345 mm to 375 mm
rear: 440 mm to 470 mm
Wheel rim - outer lip diameter: 490.6 mm (19.315")
tire mounting width - front: 335.3 mm (13.2")
rear: 429.3 mm (16.9")
Maximum car width - 2000 mm
DRS is still allowed.

This is what I can interpret from the regulations.

Thanks for the measurements!! :D
Oh lord!!! 3600mm is still huge... At least if wheels are kinda 10% bigger, the optical effect is like "just" 3272....
