Does 1970 count?

I'd guess so, like 1979 does and 1980 doesn't

It's a pet peeve of mine, ever since the "millenium" in 2000. Decades run from the first year to the 10th year. ie/1971-1980 are the "seventies".

Yeah, it's a technicality but technicalities count! (Well, at least in my book!) :)

So the Boss really says it's 1980 TOO?
And then we have a 11 year long decade? I like it!!! :D :D most of all because with 1980, I just spanned my scoop with 10 or 11 potential choices more!!

I've always said that decades are: 1970-79. This is because they are all of the '70s' i.e. the years with '7' as the third digit.

I'm with Jake. By definition 70s means 70-79. It's simpler to ignore the fact that the first decade/century/millenium was one year short.

"A decade in definition is 10 yrs.' thus 1970-1980 and only 1980."
That is eleven years ;)
