Now that the P34 is mostly in the bag, I decided to get started on number 2 for this year's GB. Now, the P34 was box stock for the most part, and this one likely won't be much different, but I will be doing a few things over and above.
- Decals will be replaced by an MSM Creation set
- Tire logos will be painted instead of decaled
- Seat belts will be replaced with SMS set
- I have some RB motion valve stems I may use as well
In addition, I'm going to see what I can do with CF and Kevlar decals for the first time - I may regret it in the long run, but I've got a ton of them stocked up and if I never try to use them then I've wasted the money, right?;
Here's the 'starter shot':
After working on polished the white metal suspension bits, I remembered the issues I had on the Williams with the paint chipping. So I decided a dunk in Blacken-It after polishing might help hide it if it happens again. I couldn't get it to turn very black, though . . . on the left is the blackened part, on the right is the polished one.
All suspension prepped and blackened:
And now for the traditional 'bathe the chrome sprue in goop' steps:
And here's the result of the bath in SAK - I love this stuff, 15 minute soak and no scrubbing, and it's ALL gone:
That's it for now - time to start the rest of the parts prep!

Thanks for letting us know about Strip a Kit, I can definitely us some of that!
I found an email address for the producer and emailed an inquiry about Strip a Kit and received very nice response but unfortunately, it is no longer produced. Bummer!

It's back from the dead . . . .
Have been making slow but steady progress on the F190 in the last couple of months - I've scaled back the plans to be closer to box stock, but still doing a few things of my own (more on that when I finish the undertray). I haven't taken too many photos along the way, but figured after completing the decals for the body panels it was a good time to stop and take some. I still need to clear the body panels, paint the insides black, finish the wing prep and paint, and do a bit of detail painting, but hoping to get this wrapped up by the end of November. Comments welcome!

Seeing your excellent build makes want to knock dust off the box and finish mine.

Looks very nice..!! I built this kit many years ago, long before I had an airbrush, or the painting skills to do it justice. It's sat in my attic for many long years.....
