McLaren F1 GTR - Le Mans 1995 - Fujimi - 1/24

Post by TvD »

Finished this one a while ago but never got around to making some decent pictures of it. This is the 1/24 scale kit by Fujimi. It represents the winning car of the 1995 24 hours of Le Mans.
which has a few issues I corrected. First of all the ride height was lowered by about 1.5mm as it was standing far too high. I then rebuild the sills as the shape was completely wrong; they were too small and placed at a wrong angle. The last correction was to rebuild amost everything in the engine bay as that had nothing to do with the GTR.
As I wanted to have one door open I "had" to do something about the interior as well. It was fully detailed including a full carbon wrap and all the wiring I could find pictures of. The normal steering wheel was replaced with a racing wheel from a 1/24 scale F1 car.
From the beginning I had planned to make the car look like it was at the finish line of the 24 hours of Le Mans. So most of the car was covered in a spray of dirt and grime with my airbrush. Then some parts were cleaned up again, like the real one. For example the sponsor stickers were cleaned at the final pitstop to make them readable when crossing the line as the winner.

Build report (in Dutch) can be found here if interested: http://forum.depaddock.net/showthread.php?t=21918

Impressive work! Fantastic detail in the cockpit. Great to see a "weathered" car model. Your WIP will be very helpful, as I have the same kit to build.

Wow, that looks amazing! I like the weathering, and the numbers that have been "whipped clean". If anything I think you could have done even a tiny bit more weathering, but it's a fine line that's easy to cross into too much weathering.

The interior is just stunning. I love all the carbon...I'm sure that was a bear to apply in that tight space. And I know it starts to sound like a cliche, but dang if I didn't think you posted pics of the real Ueno GTR headed to auction, it just looks that good! A build to be proud of!

The interior detailing and weathering really set it off. Great build - thanks for sharing.
