Fujimi 1/24 Goodsmile Racing BMW Z4 SuperGT

Post by aracefan »

Got this one done this morning. Had a good time with it and learned quite a bit, tons of decals (as in over 200) and need to have tons of patience... getting there.

Tamiya acrylics and Alclad paints
Alclad Gloss Clear Kote
all through the Iwata HP-CS.

Fujimi kit fit pretty darn good, was impresses with it.
Thanks for looking in!! :D

It looks great!

The decal work must be challenging.

sweet work on this, looks great. As the other guys said, the decal work is amazing! Perhaps an overused comment but does have a very realistic look to the build, setting & photography

Looks great! This is the next model I'm working on, always nice to see such a good example but also a bit nerve racking knowing how great it can look like.

Nice one! Built this kit a couple of years ago. Many decals for sure but as i recall not more difficult than for instance lining a cockpit with carbon decals. Biggest problem as i recall was that in some places, decals are 3-4 layers thick.

Thanks, CK. Not so much challenging as there are just so many.

Appreciate the comment! I learned how to soften decals quite a bit with this one. Not perfect and a few places could have used more work, but happy with it.

Too kind. It has it's share of "uh-oh's" too, but overall it's an easy kit and looks striking once done.
I had never used so much Micro-sol or a hair dryer before. If you do the hair dryer method, just be careful as I learned that a bit too much heat will make the decal brittle and tear. I had to repair a couple of areas, but worked out in the end.

Thanks!! Just soooo many.

Yes, the decals are 3-4 deep. Taking your time with the "paint job" decals is key. Really tested my patience on more than one occasion. :D
Quite happy with the result, and I look forward to doing the GoodSmile Racing Mercedes I have now - hopefully, it will turn out even better.

Appreciate you all looking in!!

Added the last few (10 more!) decals... the headlight decal at top of lens, the little red arrows, and the "ballast weight" decals on the roof.
