Lotus 30 wheels?

Post by Orso »

I have a 1/24 slot car body for the Lotus 30 in the scrap pile and was thinking of building a "curb side model" from it.
Now I need suggestions on where to get suitable wheels for it.

The only thing that I can think of would be the wheels in the South Eastern Finecast Lotus 38 kit. Hard to find and expensive but occasionally they show up on EBay and I believe they are still in production.

Maybe something even harder to find. An old Monogram Lotus 38 slot car.

I was thinking of the Lotus 38 but it has 15 inch wheels while the Lotus 30 seems to have used 13 inch

Hi,

You should try to contact Fein Design who made a Lotus 30.

If that is the case then your quest just became a lot easier. Use the 1/25th scale IMC/Testors Lotus 38 wheels.

Doesn't the ICM kit have 15 inch wheels?

Not sure I understand your question. So, I got out one of my 1/25th scale Testors Lotus 38 wheels. I measured the diameter of one them using a 1/2 inch scale (1/24th scale) and the diameter is 15". I think that they would look fine for your build.
If you need the rims slightly smaller there's a wide enough time so you could turn them down to a smaller diameter depending on the tires that you choose to use.

The problem is that the Lotus 30 seems to use 13 inch wheels. If I was to reduce the diameter of 15 inch wheels only the spokes would be left. But the rims could I perhaps scratch build as it is a rather simple shape. The tyres would be a problem though. What I have found is the 6.00x13 were used in the front and 7.00x13 at the rear. (To me it sound very narrow though)
Maybe I need to learn 3D modelling and order some 3D prints :)

Reviving a dead thread. Maybe thes can be used for a curb side Lotus 38: https://en.kmp-sm.com/product-page/esco ... ution-rims
Not correct but 13" and looking similar to the Lotus wheels.
