Tyrrell 003 - Jackie Stewart Monaco 1971
A really late entry made possible by neighbours Halloween party preventing sleep...
As well known, the Ebbro 1/20th kit.
A decent kit, not without its flaws but very satisfying. Really captures the real car.
ll post some "studio" photographs and a few build notes when I get some sleep

Re: Tyrrell 003 - Jackie Stewart Monaco 1971
Thanks guys
Here are a few (slighlty) better shots.
Taking these showed me a few places where touch up is needed.. that will be done!
About the model itself...
Well I wish I could say it is great, but it is merely "good"
Generally, the fit is not the best. Amongst others, the holes for the locating pins are generally to small for fitting. This is particularly bad on the chrome plated parts, where the overly shiny plating is very thick. All the suspension bits are of the Tamiya snap-on variety, but not as good. The hooks are too small and delicate to fit the pins, meaning a bit of force and handling is required, and so the advantage of the ease of assembly is negated, leaving not-so-nice and unrealistic assemblies behind.
A few specific items:
• The mirror stays are made from wire, which is a very good idea, but a bit delicate and cumbersome to install. (The instruction also has them reversed, so remember to flip them)
• The lower body (A1) has large sink marks that would appear when the model is finished, so they need to be sanded and filled.
• The fitting guides at the bottom of the nose (part C1) are too big for the lower parts, so need to be filled.
• The front suspension / radiator assembly is poor, and the fit is too tight, so rather than trying to force parts in, you may want to grind the pins off.
• The instructions tell you to place the headrest before the seat (step 7), but if you do that, the seat wont fit, so leave that till the end.
• Fitting the engine to the roll hoop is difficult as well, and the screw (although the hole needs to be filled) helps here. Just to get the glue to dry.
• Historically, the white tank at rear is the wrong shape for Monaco (see screenshot below)
• The fins at the end of the front wing are the wrong shape (should not have the vertical parts)
• The white number roundel decals are too small.
• The metal fasteners for the top body are completely absent in the kit. (Ebbro added fasteners in the Lotus 49 kit, but not for this kit for some reason)
• Not all the paint directions are correct. Stewarts car has a black front wing edge, and the rev dial had a light-brown circle.
• Seatbelts are completely wrong for the car. Should be classical 6 point and light blue.
