GB WIP. A 1976 P34 Tape residue

Post by Orso »

Since there still is time left in the GB I decided to start on another car.

Well I just finished the 1977 and 1978 Lotus 78 so lets turn the clock back a little more. Now to 1976.
Tamiya 1/20 scale and a little hint for those who doesn't recognise the engine. Think Swedish national colours.
Engine done with MFH Mesh for twelve cylinder engines as the air trumpets are very small on the kit.
Body has been painted without any bigger problems for a change. :D Only the rest left to do.
This GB was a great idea. Cars from the time frame I fancy and it has given me a boost to finally finish some F1 cars.

Re: GB WIP. A 1976 car some tubing

Post by Orso »

I decided to add some tubing to the rear radiator on this one as a test.
1976_03.JPG
For this I used some black cable and made the fittings from hexagon plastic rod.
1976_04.JPG
Painted matt black and aluminium. I haven't decided if I should paint the fittings red and blue or leave then alu. Pictures from 1976 seem to indicate alu. colour.

Time to mess up.
p34-1976_05.JPG
I always do so why stop now.
Doing an late 1976 P34 and noticed that I have to partly cover the radiators. Everything went fine until I noticed I've put it at the rear of the radiator instead of in the front. It is a good thing that I have more kits to steal a radiator from.

Bjorn,

Yes correct but the partly cover of the radiators was mainly on cold and rainy races. So late season make sense.Last races of '76 being raced in oktober..Watkins Glen and Japan being cold and rainy..

keep up the good work !

Alex

I had never seen this detail before- in the last pic it looks as though it was painted a lighter blue?

Standing on its wheels I find the P34 looking very small compared to the Lotus 78.
