Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated)
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, the end result is amazing.
Your technique is very similar to the one I use on white metal parts but as you say it is much easier to do on resin copies, I will certainly try this out myself
Look forward to seeing more of your build

Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated)
Hi everyone
Will finish the dry fitting of the rear suspension components before applying the gold color.
It doesn't seem to logical, but I've already installed the seat and belts. Metal tub sides and floor were sanded and polished. Belts were painted with Model Master "true blue pearl" from their acrylic range. Airbrushed a light coat of Tamiya clear flat XF86 over the whole assembly to trim down the reflection of the polished metal and hide a few minor CA stains around the belts.
That's it for the moment, should have more to show sometime this weekend.
Cheers
Small update, body as received a few coats of primer, still a bit of sanding and adjustments to do. Will finish the dry fitting of the rear suspension components before applying the gold color.

Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated)
I do like the true blue pearl on the belts. Now that you've put the idea out there for us to see (I assume to capture that sheen you get off the synthetic woven seat belts) it makes sense.

Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated)
I don't use that much Model Master paint, but when I saw how fine the metallic flakes were in that jar, I knew that it would be interesting to use for seat belts. The silky reflection is not obvious to represent in that scale. Anything that shines too much in 1/43 scale will always look odd.
I might add a light wash in the buckles to give a bit of depth to these PE parts.

Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated)
It's been awhile since the last update, so here's a small one.
The kit includes some meshing for the intake trumpets. I will try to use them as patterns to create other meshing for other 1/43 Cosworths.
More on that subject later.
Cheers
Basically spend a few hours on the engine and transmission. I've thinned down the edges of the exhaust pipes, painted them with some Humbrol Metal Coat followed by some Tamiya smoke and clear orange. Will probably shoot them with some flat varnish to cut the shine a bit. Still plenty to do, distributor as been pre-drilled, will add some wiring later. The kit includes some meshing for the intake trumpets. Re: Tameo Arrows A2 (updated jan.26)
Hi everyone
"Valejo Model Air" gold was diluted with some windshield washer fluid and applied at 15 Psi. Like all metallics, gold does not allow for mistakes. There a few minor scratches and bumps that will need attention before I apply another coat. Alclad "Clear Aqua Gloss" will be applied on top once I reach the proper gold paint finish.
Will try to reach that step during the upcoming week
Cheers
FInally settled on a shade of gold, applied a first layer to see how it would look on that 4" long model. I was looking for a warm shade with fine pigments, I've seen a few built models that looked way too yellow.
