Removing paint from a resin kit
Hi all, a short question.
I'm building for the first time a resin kit. unfortunately I had a paintproblem, the primer began to crack on several places of the body. I used zero paints grey primer, normally no problem at all. I think I will lay down some very thin layers next time.
But for now I want to remove the paint so I can do the paintjob again. My question, can I put the kit in brake fluid? Will it do no harm to the resin parts? Anybody any experience?
Thanks for the help!
Loek

Whatever you do, DO NOT put it in brake fluid! I’ve seen resin kits completely destroyed like that

Re: Removing paint from a resin kit
I wouldn't soak it in Isopropyl alcohol either as I had some resin parts turn rubbery when doing so.
On the one occasion i stripped paint off a resin body I just used a rag with some lacquer thinners on it and wiped it clean with no issues.

Testors Easy Lift Off (ELO) is the best. Soak it over night, and the paint will peel off with no damage to the resin.

Re: Removing paint from a resin kit
I would try brakefluid. Used it multiple time on plastic and resin. No problems. On resin abolutley nothing happened but when I let a plasticbody in it over night the plastic got a little rough. But usually no need to let it soak so long. I reas somewhere that DOT4 is the best , so this is what I use. Give the paint a little sanding with rough paper to help the fluit suck into the paint...

I can confirm it works without attacking the resin.
