Hi All,
I’d like to ask a question. I’m just finishing the 1/12th Tamiya Lotus 72D J.P.S. I’d like to convert one of these to a 72C gold leaf lotus. Now the thing is I would need a different rear wing and the air induction box. Is there any company out there that makes these parts??????. Any information would be great, many thanks in advance. Brian..

There has been a transkit around, still have it in my stash, wing, airbox and more stuff. So far as i remember you also need to do some scratch building on the suspension, 72C and 72D don`t use the same outlet on the suspension.
I might be selling the transkit as i don`t have a donor kit for it, if your interested just shoot me a pn ;)

Any chance you could post a pic of the trans kit contents?

Lotus 72c.

Never understood why a complete transkit has not been developed? Or, why Tamiya did not offer different versions.

So here we go with a short link i found with pics of the transkit, some might remember it.

But for building the Rindt car the decals are not complete, there are the 2 yellow/black badges with Rindt Motorshow on it missing. Wim from Bestbalsakits offers a full decals sheet as far as i remember, the ones in this transkit are digital prints which has to be cut to size.
Kit contains 2 wheels, frontwings, the complete rear wing, cockpit cowl and vacuum formed windshield, oil reservoir, a masking sheet to position and open the front ducts, airbox and etched tire treats.
Hope the picture helps to clear what`s inside.

This brings back memories. As a kid back in the late 1970's I built a Gold Leaf 72 "lookalike". I used the high wings from the Lotus 49B to make the rear wing. I also used the front wings, the oil tank and decals from the 49B. It wasn't correct but it gave me a second and different looking Lotus 72. My car ran without an air box.

I built Rindt's German GP car, using parts of that set. As mentioned above, the decal sheet is incomplete, so was augmented from a variety of sources. The etched tyre treads were obviously useless and I picked up resin replacements. The transkit ignores the sidepods, which required a lot of work to modify.
