Chevron transkit

Post by tubegenius »

Before jumping into water WAY over my head, does anyone have any experience with the Chevron P34 1977 "turtle shell" body style conversion kit? It looks like it could be a total nightmare of vacuum formed panels, white metal bits, Japanese only instructions, and iffy fitment. Or it could turn out to be a thing of beauty. I suspect it's the former, rather than the latter. I have several Tamiya donor kits on hand however, and this is one of my favorite F-1 cars. But I can't help thinking this kit is a booby trap. waiting to blow up in my face. Any experiences would be most welcome.

The 1/12 MFH 1977 Tyrrell P34 is the way to go. The Chevron kits are outdated. Same with the other transkits they did like M23 and T2.

Thanks to all who replied. I'm going to pass on this one. It's on ebay for $125 US. 7 hours left, no bidders so far.

English instructions can be had. I can send them to you. They are too big to post here.

As for the rest,,,,,, That's entirely up to your skill level. Anyone who says it is too difficult doesn't sound like they enjoy a challenge.

Here is a sample of the instructions These were translated by our friend here at F1M, Chris. Sadly I have forgotten his screen name and last name. Allan, you knew Chris, what ever happened to him? I don't see him here anymore for many years. I fear he has passed on.

Damn it! Woulda, coulda, shoulda. I liked Alan's suggestion of the MFH kit, as I need to venture into that realm eventually. Then I realized that it would cost me over $700 for a kit that would be nearly completely covered up, no engine/gearbox visible. Can't justify it financially. I don't know what the final price of the Chevron kit would have been if I got into a bidding war, but after seeing the sample of the translated English instructions, I think I could have pulled it off. Oh well, maybe someone will offer a 3-D printed body kit sometime.

The eBay kit sold for $125.00 plus $15.00 for shipping. If you are interested I have one I'll sell you. Not for $125.00 but not anywhere close to $700 either. Message me if you are interested. Or send me an email at derek_collins68 (at) msn (dot) com
