I think that if you spray Italian Red over white primer in the Ferraris, and Italian Red over gray primer in the Brabhams, there will be enough difference between the final reds. It's only a question to avoid too dark primers, like some from Gunze. But the regular Tamiya gray primer is OK to do the trick.

A few replies:
Orso....the correct code is 'COF' but sometimes listed as 'BLVC61' It's hard to get these days because it's a 1970s colour, which is why Brabham ended up using it, I guess
JamesB....totally agree with you. Bernie would never have allowed the use of the wrong colour
Randman....Alfa have used lots of reds over the years, so Alfa Red means nothing
