What is up with tamiyas RB6
I was futzing around on e-bay just now and noticed that Tamiya's RB6 is going for upwards of $200! These are auctions that were complete and there were multiple bidders so that is actual price people are paying for it. It looks like auction starting prices are at least $100. Can anybody explain why the high prices for that kit? It seems to me that it is too new of a kit to be either rare or commanding that price.

At the moment you can only get the kits in auctions, at least in Europe they are hardly available in shops anymore !!
In Japan they are repeatedly sold in auctions, but sometimes at very high prices.

Same thing that happened with the SF70H. Once the license was lost prices went up. You can still get deals, I've seen a few go for around $100 which is fair for an out of production kit. I'm somewhat surprised no one has re-released the STR decals for this kit.

The decals for the STR5 are relatively complex and also not made in 5 minutes!stubeck wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:40 pm Same thing that happened with the SF70H. So I must consider myself fortunate to have two of them!!
Well if kit is rare, re releasing the STR5 decals might not be a good idea... few RBR, who would spoil one!!
PS: similar thing happens with Ferrari F150TH...

If people can't get the kits cheaply, they won't need decals either.
But I think I would treat myself to some if there were any

OOP Kits are being whacky... I paid $30 to get myself the 1/12 2008 Fiat Yamaha GP Bike... on the clearance table after it sat in LHS for a couple of years. Went to look for the aftermarket forks and noticed it was going for $180 last year.... 2 years after I bought it... Sold it to buy the 2019 LeMans Toyota... at the LHS... and pocket like $120. But $180 for the bike seemed like a lot. I made someone happy, I hope.

Haha fair enough, just think that someone could make the decals for $20 and sell them for $80 with the way prices are.steinietrabi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 2:01 pmThe decals for the STR5 are relatively complex and also not made in 5 minutes!stubeck wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:40 pm Same thing that happened with the SF70H.
