WIP, was:MP4/5 Fujimi, another one need measures please!

Post by JamesB »

Hi guys.
ER, BTW have remained quite silent lately. Lots of disturbance and well some family matters related with hospitals. Jury is still out and we dont have a conclusion yet. Let;s hope for better :roll: :)

Now with the matter to take your time.
I've had this project started for almost 30 years now. I went a bit too far cutting rear part of sidepods and since then I doubted the real measure. It's only today I had the brilliant idea to ask a good samaritan sould that owns a Fujimi MP4/5 that could take these measures for me.
Most are almost sure, but a check wont hurt (me, it'll cost you more time! :lol: ) the more important is rear sidepods width, so I put this "C" twice in the pictures. Millimeters welcome!! v :D
THanks in advance gang!

A= 59,75mm
B= 59,85mm
C=59,50mm-60,60mm
D=41,80mm
E=21,00mm
F=5,85mm
G=5,90mm
H=58,10mm

Are you actually building the MP4/5B or the MP4/5?
It looks like you want to turn the Tamiya MP4/5B into the MP4/5...

Wow Thomas thanks SOOOOO much!!
I see I am spot on with some of the measures, most of them in fact, tahts a good thing.
Sure I want to make an MP4/5 hehe 8) otherwise Fujimi approach on the 4/5 wouldn't be of interest :D
I forgot to ask some "control" measures (to see if Fujimi is right n terms of general scale) as sidepod and both wings total widths, will you please tell me those too :wink:
I disagree with Fujimi regarding total heigth of car. Pics give me a higher figure, but will look again.
BIG THANKS! again

Damn! That was fast!! :D Thanks again.
Well, I see then that Fujimi made it too narow. No team excepting Ferrari went under the maximum width of 1400mm. When someone did (Ferrari) it was big news and never went unnoticed.
Hmm so Ill have to adapt their rear sidepod width with certain correction factor...
Thanks!

Thanks for asking :D
As you may read above, to make one 5 from a Tamiya 5B. 8)
It´ll be a late season car (which will be a good excuse to have a transverse gearbox! ) I am doubting between Japan and Monza... if you look at my pics (its the already heavily modified Tamiya 5B) I´ve already walked a long way :D

Why did you just not use the Fujimi model?
Just for the fun of it? :)
