Masking is my least favorite thing to do followed closely by filling ejector pin marks.

Gotta be sanding filler/putty. Dust gets everywhere, no matter how hard I try to contain it, and in the end i usually have to use more filler to correct something.

CF decals would be the most tedious task for me, but they are worth the effort.
I used to hate filling, sanding, painting only to find the model filler had shrunk and a join line appeared , not an issue after I discovered the best filler is CA glue, the perfect filler, sets rock hard and never shrinks, great for sink marks etc.
Rubber tyres seam lines, hated trying to get rid of them too by hand with sandpaper, I found a much quicker method so less painful, cordless screwdriver, get em spinning and then sandpaper, fun!

sanding/polishing... 1/43 is OK but larger, especially 1/12 is just terrible

Re: What is your least enjoyable task in modeling?
As i'm working on a Motogp kit, I have been reminded of the bike equivilant to harnesses: those horrid pin stripes on the wheels. In my experience, I lay them down 1 piece ( 3 piece set around each side of the wheels) at a time and have to let them air dry as using a blowdryer can prove quite problematic. It's just not a pleasant experience.
