Have you tried using an rc tyre cutter something like this https://speedyrc.com.au/products/projec ... -pro-70258BMW wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 1:08 pm For me, in F1 at least, it has to be removing the seamline in tires.
Ugh.
It's tiring (ba dum tish!) to sand tire that is just not receptive to being sanded. The sandpaper has little effect, its dirty and the graining/pickup of the tires just exacerbates the task.
I usually do it when I am watching a race, as it keeps my hands busy (too not eat too much snacks!) with four tires, a bowl of water and a piece of sandpaper on tray, but still its a chore.
Surely the model manufacturers have to be able to create a better tire.
Or a cuticle remover/pusher https://www.boots.com/boots-cuticle-remover-10261885
Basically the same thing but cheaper!

Far and away the thing I like least is clear coating over decals and then color sanding and polishing. So much work before this and one slip and you are back to square one!

I’m another vote for seatbelts.
Ask anyone in my family
95% of tameo kits have the same etched parts for the belts. After 70 odd kits, its getting tedious.
On the other hand i love everything about working on the body shell - detailing, filling, painting, and best of all, decals!! The model comes alive in your hands.

That kit which I knew I'd get around to buying someday, and the fit of self abuse upon discovering the kit is no longer available.

Thanks, but sadly it will not do. The seam / weldline itself is very thin, the problem is the tires are not 100% round, and there is a quarter of a mm difference between each of the two sides, so they have to be sanded down till they are round.RcRacer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:50 amHave you tried using an rc tyre cutter something like this https://speedyrc.com.au/products/projec ... -pro-70258BMW wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 1:08 pm For me, in F1 at least, it has to be removing the seamline in tires.

Ah yes! That is even more annoying. Having to buy the kits when they come out, as they will only be out of production later on and the usual scalpers on eBay prop up the prices to absurd levels.Paul_OFarrell wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:19 am That kit which I knew I'd get around to buying someday, and the fit of self abuse upon discovering the kit is no longer available.

Great thread. I really hate trying to push wheels onto built (and fragile) suspensions. Lining up all the wheels and suspension is a pretty miserable task as well. Especially on NASCAR kits where the fit has a lot of play.

Carbon fiber decals……making templates, cutting decals, getting them to conform to curves, fixing wrinkles….very time consuming. Always glad when it’s done but the results are usually satisfying.

Seatbelts (look too big, look too small, hang wrong....argh!)
Small photo etched parts (my 55yr old eyes aren't what they used to be)
Wiring (I'm sensing a theme here)
Those are my top 3.
