That Paper With Decals

Post by lvndeva »

Hi everyone,

i was wondering if anybody knows the type of paper which sometimes come together with new decals. See picture.
I believe its purpose is to absorb moisture??

Also, where do i buy this type of paper?
Thanks

Basicaly is waxed. After all if it kept moisture it´d be bad as it´d keep it in contact with the decal. It protects as a shield and it´s (ahem, in some cases as you all know) supposed NOT to adhere to the decals.

Well you can also use it to draw the decal if you wish to paint some parts instead of using the decals (in case of livery colors) can be good reference for masking

I believe a primary purpose is to protect the decal sheet from damage - scratches and such.

Hello, I found this sketch pad in the stationery trade. It almost feels the same.

Thanks for this tip. Looking online, i did find 'wax paper' and also 'parchment paper' which looks similar to those used for decals.

key word is acid free, not wax.

If you want to store, 5.5 bucks each from SMS is a god value to me.....had several of these.....or google authentic Museum grade archival paper, may be cheaper.

If you want the transparency for masking, it is not that transparency as you would expect, a color scanner is a better solution.

Ok, finally, I have all wax/parchment paper and SMS decal paper (from 1st link) in-house. They don’t look, feel the same.

Yes of course. I made a mistake because I use it as a sketchbook. Checked it out and it's pretty much the same as the decals.

Thanks for this info. I will try and source for these.
To store decals, do you know if the wax paper will also work? Or acid free paper is the one for the job?
Also how many pcs are in the SMS package?it doesnt say..
