Ebbro 49's

Post by Nigel »

I see the Ebbro Lotus 49 on ebay at MFH prices! The 49B is coming up too. I wonder if Ebbro will re-pop these.

They will eventually, like all plastic kits. The molds were very expensive. They will last a long time. They will use them again :-)

I think once people can leave their house we'll see a collapse in the market at some point. A lot of people are buying with the fear they'll never be able to find the kit again, and at some point they'll run out of space, or want to sell to buy the next kit they don't think they'll be able to find.

I agree. I am not chasing any kits over $40.00 for 1/20th. The 1/12th has to be $80 - $200.

Yes, they will get re-released. The kits are "cash cows". That's why we see a ****-load of P34 Tyrrells.

I am not so sure about re-releases from Ebbro. They are delaying their new kits, which were announced a while ago.
So, re-release of older kit may not be a priority for Ebbro, imho.

Is there any other reasons besides Covid?

Lotus 49B and 49C were delayed a lot before COVID. Tyrrell 005/006 were announced a long time ago as well.
Can't blame COVID for those delays. Something else inside Ebbro. No idea.

I'd be more likely they'd do a re-release I think then than a new kit. With a re-release, they just need licensing, while a new kit needs molds which are the expensive part once you have the licensing.
