Photoetched Brass (Gold Coloured) Bolt Heads

Post by dr_gn »

Hello,

Does anyone know of a supplier of photoetched bolt/fastener heads that are gold coloured - like the ones included in the Top Studio detail sets?

Thanks.

Thanks Seema.

Looks like they mainly do turned fasteneres. I'm looking for the very low profile caps that you can stick onto existing stubs.

I think the only ones currently available are these by Tameo: https://www.spotmodel.com/product_info. ... ts_id=4469

So more like pegs and the like. I have a few brass studs left over from a chain set. If you want it, I will send it to you.
During my apprenticeship in materials science, we heated sheet steel and worked with a brass brush until it turned golden. There is no chemical process to dye it. Something like burnishing?

What else comes to mind are hexagonal brass rods that you turn off.

Prime miniatures in the UK do nuts and bolts in brass and a variety of different sizes, have a look here; https://prime-miniatures.co.uk/

There is a RP Toolz punch and die set around where you have various sizes of hex heads, you only need a thin brass plate and can do them on your own. Not cheap but it works.

Thanks all. The Tameo ones are the closest to what I’m looking for. I noticed tonight that there were some on the Top Studio fret that aren’t designated for anything, so maybe I’ll use those.
