Re: Austin GP
Track layout looks pretty nice to me.
Re: Austin GP
I'm curious to see the complete topography of the course, but from the overall layout, I like it.
Things I noticed:
1) It's counter-clockwise...cheeky nod to american racing and absolved of being an issue with the exclusion of re-fueling.
2) I like the concept of an uphill start, curious to see how they treat the first corner in regards to width and camber.
3) Three different types of passing zones:
a. Uphill - emphasizing engine torque and mechanical grip
b. Winding esses - mechanical grip
c. Loooong straight - top speed and braking
There's a potential fourth in the last corner, but it might prove hard to defend counter-attacks.

Re: Austin GP
Loks ok to me, but of course we won't know for sure until the flag drops.
Several "echoes" of other tracks there: the curving part on the outbound section looks like the Becketts complex at Silverstone or the curves behind the pits at Suzuka, there's a stadium section near the end of the lap that looks like a mirror image of the Hockenheim stadium, and there's a multiple-apex left that definately looks like Turkey's turn 8...

Re: Austin GP
My first impression is that I like it, however, looking at a plan without any topography can be misleading.
I really do want this to succeed, F1 without a US race just doesn't feel complete.

Re: Austin GP
Yeah the basic layout looks quite promising - several good features (although its sort of a shame he can't come up with new ones, but instead has to copy good bits from other tracks!) but some land elevation data is really needed before anyone can say much more...

Re: Austin GP
first impressions look very promising. Hopefully the track will be wide enough especially in passing zones. I would like to see one corner with a very wideentry and exit. These type of corners always generatelots of excitement as different types of passes can be attempted.

Autosport has a 3D graphic showing elevation changes...

Re: Austin GP
the long strait does not look so long on that autosport map. Steep start but would have been nice to see a little drop in elevation trough the fast corner on the "backstrait".

Re: Austin GP
looks promising. especially since there will actually be some elevation and not flat land, good passing zones as well.
