McLaren M23 '73 - Iritani
Hi all,
here is my first finished model in 2016. This time I chose Denny Hulmes M23 from 1973.
Denny took the M23's maiden victory in Anderstorp, Sweden. The first of many to come...
The kit by Iritani is a very basic kit. It includes metal, resin and PE-parts for chassis, frontsuspension and the wings. The remaining parts are mainly plastic parts from Tamiya. I have detailed the engine and gearbox section and found it a very joyfull build. Thank you for watching!

VERY nice job - the kit is not that good. I am a M23 lover and this first win version is (ALSO) gold.
Only 2 inputs: The windshield should have been a little yellow tinted. And the lower part of the sidepods should also be orange - not white.

A nice example of Hulme / McLaren history. I like your radiator hose additions, too.

Re: McLaren M23 '73 - Iritani
Thanks a lot for the comments, guys!
It's nice you like it!
Regarding your inputs, Allnie:
You are definatly right about the lower part of the sidepod being orange. Unfortunatly I was fooled by this picture were the car was fitted with some kind of silver tape and by the time I noticed it, it was too late.
If I expand the baremetal foil it might look right again...
For the windscreen I compared pictures of the various versions and noticed that Revsons M23 always seemed to have a more tinted windscreen then the one of Hulme. Hulmes windscreen was very, very little tinted. In the end I left the screen clear on purpose, because it doesn't seem to be totaly wrong and if I fail to get it right I would have a problem to get a replacement. On the M23 '76 I am still working on, I tried to tint the windscreen and it looks horrible! Fortunatly I have a replacement!
